Maine Interstate Highway System - New Exit Numbers 2004

Maine has become the 38th state to re-number its interstate highway exits to conform roughly to mileage markers. Maine is also simplifying interstate route designations at the same time. I-95 will run from Kittery to Houlton including the entire length of the Maine Turnpike (rather than veering off in Falmouth and rejoining the turnpike in Gardiner). I-295 will run from South Portland to Gardiner (rather than changing to I-95 from Falmouth to Gardiner). There will be no I-495.

New exit numbers will go into effect between January and May 2004.
